The sixth novel that was ever discussed, way back in 2023, before Rebecca had joined the cast and it was just Aaron and Rodney, was The Book of Daniel by E. L. Doctorow. Everyone here at Just In Case We Die was quite enamored of that novel. Aaron, in particular, loved it, so he–tired of disappointing his castmates with his hand-picked selections–chose another story by this most American of American authors. He selected Ragtime, knowing full well that his love for the 1998 musical of the same name might taint his enjoyment. “Disappointment” isn’t even the right word for what ended up happening.
